I have been writing some new music and just finished a brand new track called Give me some rope and I really looking forward to recording the new set of tracks, and I am going to attempt to record the songs in the alps using my laptop and some pretty basic music software rather than going intoa studio. My ambition has always been to be mobile, therefore playing live and recording on the road as I move.
Life this way can be pretty lonely as I am never in one place for more than 3 to 4 months however until I find a pocket where life and music groove in harmony I have to keep on moving. The real losers are my children, I am going to miss them when I head back to London as I will be gone for at least 6 months however Paz and I are talking about, the 4 of them, which includes her boyfriend Max, coming up to the Alps for a week in Feb.
So its not the end of the world, life is so much better in recovery than it has ever been in active fucking addiction when life was miserable. Thumbs up to recovery.
I would like to take this time to highlight an artist I worked with in South Africa. Her name is Josie Field, she's great. She supported James Blunt amongst other big name artsits and she is one of South African finest yet to hit the international scene. Check out her stuff man.
Josie Fields debut album, Mercury, released in
7 000 units in her home territory alone - an astounding achievement for the debut album by a previously unknown artist. The first single off Mercury was Every Now And Then, which went to number 1 on 5 FMs chart and was also at number 1 on listener-voted Hi5 @ 5 for 7 weeks. The second single, 10 Years went to number 2 on 5FM and stayed on the number 1 spot on the Hi 5 @ 5 for 3 weeks. Combined, these 2 singles, have achieved over 120 000 units in compilation sales and downloads.
Not willing to rest on her laurelsfollowing the critical acclaim of Mercury, Josie has journeyed the stages of
witnessed her near show-stealing performances.
